The IWFM Level 5 qualifications in Facilities Management are designed for experienced professionals looking to deepen their expertise in facilities management, develop strategic skills, and advance into senior management roles within the industry.

This qualification is ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training, and are serious about developing their abilities or those that aspire to be in a management position.

The IWFM Level 5 Diploma in Facilities Management consists of five mandatory units (32 credits) plus additional optional units to achieve a minimum of 48 credits in total.

Facilities management development and trends

Undertake an analytical overview of the scope and context of facilities management, including the impact of change, development, and innovation on facilities management practices

Workshop 2

Organisational and facilities management strategy

Analyse, implement, review and update the FM strategy based on an understanding of its relationship with organisational strategies and effectively communicate the strategy to a wide audience

Workshop 3

Managing people in facilities management

Review, develop and implement human resource management strategies from recruitment through to exit, in compliance with employment legislation

Workshop 4

Risk management in facilities management

Develop a risk management policy, establish risk criteria, and improve and review the risk management process and strategy

Workshop 5

Financial management in facilities management

Apply the principles of financial management and financial policies to facilities management. To effectively manage budgets and cash flow and to prepare financial cases

Workshop 6

Managing health and safety in facilities management

Manage health and safety in the workplace, develop and review health and safety policies and promote a proactive health and safety culture in compliance with legislative requirements

Workshop 7

Managing facilities management projects

Undertake a facilities management project; assemble and manage facilities management teams and undertake projects from planning, through monitoring and reporting to completion and review

Workshop 8

Sustainability and environmental management and the impact on facilities management

Develop and manage sustainability and environmental policies which support corporate responsibility. Review and influence the impact of the FM functions, to manage waste and promote wider engagement and awareness

How will this be assessed?

This qualification will be assessed by Assignments/Personal development plan & Leadership assessment and evalution.

How do i get funding?

You may be eligible for an advanced learner loan if you are aged 19 or over, and do not hold an existing level 3 qualification (or above).

Getting an advanced learner loan doesn’t depend on your household income or your employment status, and there is no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until you are earning more than £25,000 per year (before tax and other deductions).

Advanced learner loans are suitable for anyone who:

  • Is aged 19 or above at the start of the programmes
  • Is studying for an eligible course at level 3, 4, 5 or 6 in education or training
  • Fulfils residency criteria

This course is also available without a learner loan and you can pay over 9 monthly instalments (1 x£226 plus 8 x £220)
