The IWFM Level 6 Diploma in Facilities Management consists of four mandatory units (30 credits) plus additional optional units to achieve a minimum of 60 credits in total.

Workshop 1

Strategic facilities management

Understand the influences and drivers that can affect the strategy and direction of facilities management. How to market and promote facilities management to clients and end-users. Understand the importance of innovation within facilities management and how to establish a problem-solving culture.

Workshop 2

Facilities management governance and risk

Understand the purpose of corporate governance and an organisation’s ethical responsibilities. Understand the principles of effective governance, its relationship to risk management and the importance of risk management in the context of the strategy in business. Effectively review the effectiveness of risk management strategies, apply risk transfer within the facilities management function and contribute to a robust business continuity plan for an organisation as a whole.

Workshop 3

Quality management and customer service in facilities management

Understand the principles and theories of quality management and the design of quality systems to meet the requirements of the business. Develop and manage service level agreements and develop and implement strategies for improving customer service and relationships.

Workshop 4

Financial management in facilities management

Understand how income is generated within facilities management, the legal obligations for financial management, be able to evaluate financial performance and life cycle costing methodologies.

Workshop 5

Strategic facilities management support services operations

Develop strategies for the delivery of support services within facilities management and identify opportunities for new or alternative services.

Workshop 6

Strategic leadership and management in facilities management

Develop and articulate a vision and understand the relationship between facilities management and organisational strategy. Lead and empower staff and stakeholders using a range of leadership and management theories to create a culture which encourages innovation.

Workshop 7

Strategic facilities management support services operations

Develop productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, suppliers and specialists, consult on key issues and activities, manage complex negotiations and understand the wider context that affects these relationships. Understand the implications of ‘conflict of interest’ and to monitor and review the effectiveness of their working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Workshop 8

Corporate responsibility and sustainable facilities management

Understand the importance of corporate responsibility within facilities management and champion the organisation’s legal, ethical, social, and regulatory responsibilities. Evaluate policies that protect the environment and supports corporate responsibility to review and improve environmental awareness and social responsibility within the facilities management function.

Workshop 9

Introducing and leading change in an organisation and managing the impact on facilities management

Persuade others of the benefits of change, plan a strategy for achieving the vision, lead and support people through the process of change whilst managing the impact on facilities management.

The IWFM Level 6 Certificate in Facilities Management consists of one mandatory unit (10 credits) plus additional optional units to achieve a minimum of 30 credits in total.

Develop an understanding of facilities management support services operations and how to monitor the delivery of those services within safe systems of work and budgetary constraints

How will this be assessed?

This qualification will be assessed by Assignments/Personal development plan & Leadership assessment and evalution.

How do i get funding?

You may be eligible for an advanced learner loan if you are aged 19 or over, and do not hold an existing level 3 qualification (or above).

Getting an advanced learner loan doesn’t depend on your household income or your employment status, and there is no credit check. You won’t have to pay anything back until you are earning more than £25,000 per year (before tax and other deductions).

Advanced learner loans are suitable for anyone who:

  • Is aged 19 or above at the start of the programmes
  • Is studying for an eligible course at level 3, 4, 5 or 6 in education or training
  • Fulfils residency criteria

This course is also available without a learner loan and you can pay over 9 monthly instalments (1 x£226 plus 8 x £220)
