Everything you need to know about completing a regulated IWFM Award in five days with Learnmore.
For general questions about IWFM qualifications, membership grades and funding, our IWFM qualifications FAQs cover those in full.
What is the IWFM Award in a Week?
It is our one week delivery of a regulated and international recognised IWFM Award at Level 4, 5 or 6. The qualification itself is awarded and regulated through the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management, the professional body for FM. What we have designed is the delivery, a focused five day structure that takes you from start to submitted assignments in a single week, with 1:1 coaching throughout.
Is it a real qualification?
Yes, and it is worth being precise about this. The Award you complete is the same regulated, IWFM accredited Award you would earn through a longer study route. The week changes how the learning is delivered, not what the qualification is. Learnmore is an IWFM recognised centre and Ofsted-registered training provider.
Which levels are available?
Levels 4, 5 and 6. Level 4 suits team leaders and supervisors moving into facilities management. Level 5 is for senior FM professionals stepping into Head of FM roles. Level 6 is for experienced managers working at strategic level. As with all IWFM qualifications, there are no formal entry requirements, you choose the level that matches your experience and responsibilities, and if you are unsure, we will help you decide.
What does the week actually look like?
Monday to Thursday, mornings are remote workshops from 10am to 1pm, led by a practitioner from an FM background. Afternoons, and Friday, are for working on your assignments, with 1:1 coaching support as you go. The full commitment is around 35 hours across the five days.
Do I need to take the week off work?
Plan for it as a full working week. The structure runs roughly 10am to 5pm each day, and the focus is what makes the one week timescale possible. There is no travel, everything is remote, so you can do it from home or a quiet room at work, but we would not recommend trying to run your site at the same time. One week of cover is the honest ask.
How is it assessed?
Through work-based assignments, the same assessment principle as every IWFM qualification we deliver. There are no exams. At Levels 4 and 5 you complete two pieces, at Level 6 one, and because the assignments are work-based, you apply the learning to your own building, contracts and team as you write.
How is this different from a Certificate or Diploma?
Size. An Award is the smallest IWFM qualification, with fewer units than a Certificate or Diploma, which is exactly what makes a one week delivery possible. It is the focused route rather than the comprehensive one. If you want the full breadth of a level, a Certificate or Diploma is still the right choice, and most of our learners complete a Certificate in 7 to 9 months studying around the day job.
Can I progress to a Certificate or Diploma afterwards?
Yes, and many learners treat the Award exactly that way, a regulated credential now, with progression to a fuller qualification when the diary allows. If progression is your plan, tell us when you book and we will map the route with you.
What does it cost?
Level 4 is £1,900 plus VAT, Level 5 is £2,200 plus VAT, and Level 6 is £2,400 plus VAT, as listed on the course page.
Is IWFM membership included?
Yes. IWFM membership comes with the course, free until you complete, for a maximum of two years, so you are part of the professional community from the moment you start.
What support will I get?
A trainer from an FM background leads the workshops, and you have 1:1 coaching support while you work on your assignments. Groups are kept small so that coaching genuinely works, which is also why places on each running are limited.
